Oravae Cottage is a secluded island stay featuring handcrafted wooden bungalows over a pristine blue lagoon. The main cottage sleeps up to six, with additional overwater and treehouse options for larger groups, all booked exclusively for one party at a time. Enjoy an overwater verandah, canoe access, and stunning views of Kolombangara Volcano. Hosts Patson and Naomi Baea provide a relaxed, all-inclusive experience with meals, local hospitality, and simple comforts. Oravae sits on its own small islet off Gizo (Sepo Island), reached by a roughly 15-20 minute boat ride from Nusa Tupe airport or Gizo town — guests fly into Gizo via Honiara. Meals are included in the nightly rate and are a highlight of the stay, with fresh, locally caught and grown food prepared by the family, including son Jeremy and nephew Junior, who guests repeatedly single out for excellent home-style island cooking. Beyond swimming and snorkelling straight off the verandah — where reef sharks and colourful fish are visible right at the accommodation — guests can arrange scuba diving through Dive Gizo, surfing or skurfing trips with Jeremy, fishing, paddleboarding, kayaking in the property's traditional wooden canoe, hikes on Kolombangara Island, jungle walks, and visits to local villages and WWII relic dive sites nearby.
